Kosovo is a little country yet is home to a wide variety of cultures, breathtaking scenery, and friendly locals. Taking a road trip across the country is one of the best ways to experience Kosovo’s beauty.

This Balkan road journey will take you via Peja, the entry point to Kosovo’s most stunning mountain landscape, from the capital, Pristina, to the most picturesque town, Prizren. Allow for a minimum of three days.

    



Once you’ve had your fill of Pristina, head to Prizren along the M9, making a brief stop along the way to see the UNESCO-listed Gracanica Monastery. Even though the ride is only a little over an hour long, the vistas are amazing. Spend at least a day exploring Prizren, the most attractive city in Kosovo, after you arrive. It also boasts a ton of quaint bars!

It’s time to drive to Gjakova, a small ancient village with an amazing covered market, from Prizren. Proceed from there to Peja in the northern region of Kosovo, including a stop at Decani, the second UNESCO monastery.

The Peja Patriarchate, the spiritual home and mausoleum of the Serbian Patriarchs, is located in Pec, which is also home to a sizable Serbian community. It’s also the entry point to the breathtaking Rugova Valley, an outdoor enthusiasts’ paradise.

This three-day tour is ideal for exploring Kosovo.
