Viaggio alternativo in Montenegro da Komovi al Parco Nazionale del Durmitor

  • Duration: 7 days
  • Distance covered: 560km (approx. 13 hours of driving)
  • Highlights: Hiking, Bobotov Kuv

The most striking mountain ranges and national parks in the nation are highlighted on this road trip via Komovi, Prokletije, and Durmitor in Montenegro.

This tour should ideally begin in Podgorica, the country’s capital. Once you’ve picked up your rental car, head inland to the Komovi highlands. Make your base in Stavna, a high alpine meadow with traditional Katuns (herdmen’s settlements) scattered throughout. This puts you in a good position to trek to the top of Kom Vasojevićki, which is one of the Komovi Range’s tallest peaks.

It’s time to travel interior to Prokletije National Park, also referred to as the Accursed Mountains, after touring Komovi. Make Grebaje Valley or Ropojana Valley your base. From these valleys, you can access a variety of day hiking paths, albeit there aren’t always obvious or abundant trail markers. Be aware that admission costs 1 Euro per person each day.

After spending a few days in the Forbidden Mountains, start your three to four-hour journey to Durmitor National Park. Zabljak is the ideal starting point for exploring Durmitor. Numerous hiking routes exist, such as Bobotov Kuv and Planinica.

Proceeding towards Pluzine, you will go through the center of Durmitor National Park on the picturesque Sedlo Route P14. Perhaps the most picturesque route in all of Montenegro is the P14.
